Fancy yourself a Christmas drink to get into the festive spirit? Something to keep you warm in the cold of winter? Then look no further. Here at Honeypot Furniture, we’ve got you covered! Two tried and tested recipes that are sure to tickle your taste buds and warm you through!

Either wrap your hands around a glass of alcoholic mulled wine or, try the fruity non-alcoholic mulled wine. There is something for everyone ensuring the whole family can get involved in this festive treat.

For the alcoholic Honeypot Mulled wine you will need:

1 bottle (750ml) of red wine

2 cinnamon sticks

2 star anise

1 orange, sliced

2-4 tablespoons of honey (or to your desired sweetness)

(optional 100ml sloe gin for a special seasonal addition)

To make your mulled wine, pour the red wine into a large pan, along with the cinnamon sticks, star anise, orange and honey.

Warm through on a low heat for a minimum of 10mins, allowing the spices to infuse.

The wine wants to be heated until it almost reaches a simmer. Try to avoid letting it bubble in any way, this will ensure the alcohol doesn’t start to evaporate.

If time allows you can let your mulled wine warm through on a low heat from anywhere between 10 minutes and 1 hour. The longer you leave it, the more intense the spiced flavour will become.

Just before serving you can pour in some sloe gin, this is an optional step for a special seasonal addition.

Strain your mulled wine with a sieve to remove the spices. Then pour into mugs or heatproof glasses and share with family and friends.

The best part about mulled wine is that if you’re not ready to drink it straight away, after the initial heating you can set aside your pan and reheat the mixture when you are ready to serve. This means that you can prepare your delicious mulled wine in advance of your guests arriving, leaving you to get on with cooking your Christmas dinner!

Top your glasses or mugs with extra orange slices or your favourite garnish, share with family and friends, cheers and enjoy!

Alternatively, if you fancy a drink infused with fruit and spice without alcohol, this is the recipe for you!

For Honeypot Furniture’s non-alcoholic Mulled wine you will need:

250ml Apple Juice

500ml Pomegranate Juice

2 cinnamon sticks

2 star anise

1 orange, sliced

You could also substitute the juice for a non-alcoholic red wine if this is preferred.

To make your delicious alcohol-free mulled wine, first, pour the two juices into a pan. Add the cinnamon, star anise, cloves and orange.

Gently heat for around 10mins or until the mixture starts to simmer. If time allows leave the mixture on a low heat for a further 10-20mins, allowing the spices to infuse adding extra flavour.

If you are ready to serve then strain and pour your mulled wine into mugs or heatproof glasses and top with orange slices or your favourite Christmas garnish. If you are ahead of the game and want to save your fruity mulled wine for later then set your pan to the side and reheat, strain and serve when ready.

There we have it, two delicious mulled wine recipes, full of fruit, spice and lots of flavour, sure to get you in the festive spirit.

Cheers, enjoy and Merry Christmas, from everyone at Honeypot Furniture!
